Navratri 2018: Kushmanda -4th Divine Manifestation of Goddess Durga
Kushmanda is the 4th Divine form of Goddess Durga. The Fourth Day of Shardiya Navratri is considered as Chaturthi.
The deity of this day is known as Kushmanda
Ku means Little and Ushma means energy and anda mean cosmic egg (universe ). She is also known as Smiling Goddess.

Hence we can say She is the creator of this Universe
Kushmanda depicts with 8 hands holding Kamal ( Lotus Flower), Chakra, Kamandalu ( Water Utensil ), Bow, Arrow, Gadha, Rosary, Jar of Holy Elixir and Blood.

Husband – Shiva

One who worships her bestowed with prosperity, powers, health and destruction of evil forces.
There is one story in Mythology – According to Scriptures, Once Maa Kushmanda creates Universe, later from her Left eyes – Mahakali was born, from the centre – Agya Chakra – Mahalaxmi was born and from right eye – Mahasarasvati was born.
From the body of Mahakali – one male and female was born, Male was Lord Shiva and female was Goddess Saraswati
From the body of Mahalaxmi – One Male and female was born, Male was Brahma and female was Goddess Laxmi.
From the body of Mahasaraswati – One Male and female was born, Male was Vishnu and female was Goddess Shakti.
Kushmanda offers Shiv to Shakti, Laxmi to Vishnu and Saraswati to Brahma for the creation, administration and destruction of the universe.
Thereafter it is said that Maa Kushmanda and those 3 energies get absorbed into one divine energy.
