Eye Diseases and Atharveda’s Netro-Upanishad : Vedas are said to be the oldest scripture in Indian Civilization which is said to be 50,000 old civilizations. Among the 4 Vedas which are said to be timeless and being in existence before the creation of the universe/cosmos.

The 4 Vedas are :

1. Rig Veda
   
2. Atharva Veda
   
3. Yajur Veda
   
4. Sam Veda

Each Veda consists of thousand of slokas and if  we decode those slokas, a complete lack of paper to write down the importance and benefits of the hidden messages behind those Sanskrit slokas. Hence, it is bind and encoded in small slokas which is very tough for a layman to understand.

Rig Veda is said to be the oldest Vedas Script in the world which may not be the best book in Hindu religion but it can be called as Encyclopedia of Human Culture.

‘Rig Veda’ and ‘Atharva-Veda’ are said to be best Vedas for humans as they consist more of herbs,medicines and surgery.

The fourth and last Veda of Hindu literature ‘Atharva Veda’ consists of medical information in its various stages of evolution and contains the most primitive as well as some of the most highly developed stages of therapy. Athar Veda mentions a large number of diseases, both major and minor such as Eye diseases such Glucoma, Catarract, Spine Surgery etc.

Atharva Veda is also known as  ‘Bhaisajya Veda’ because its hymns which represent Ayurveda of Vedic period and the name ‘Atharvan’ is almost synonymous with Bhesaja i.e. medicine. 

Since the Upanishada and Atharva Veda consists of various healing modalities. I will highlight the most sacred and ancient therapy in Hindu Mantra Shastra which is NetroUpanidhad (नेत्रोंउपनिषद्) for treating ailment of eye.

This (नेत्रोंउपनिषद्) Netro-Upanishad Mantra is extremely useful in eye diseases especially in chronic eye ailments, also it helps to improve the eyesight.

Following is the Mantra in Devanagari Script from Netro-Upanishad (नेत्रोंउपनिषद्) which is found to be extremely powerful in treating eye diseases.

ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ 

अथा तश चाक्षुषी पठित सिद्धा॥ चक्षु रोग हराम व्याख्या शायम॥ यथा चक्षु रोगा: सर्वतो नश्यन्ति चक्षुषो दीप्तभवति तस्याह चाक्षुषी विद्याया: अहि बुधन्य ऋषि गायत्री छंद: श्री सूर्योदेवता चक्षु रोग निवृत्तये  जपे विनियोग:॥

ॐ चक्षुष चक्षुष चक्षुष तेज: स्थिरोभवा मा पाहि पाहि  त्वृ रीतं चक्षु रोगान शमय शमय मम जात रूपम तेजोदर्शय तेजोदर्शय यथाह मन्धोनश्याम तथा कल्याणम कुरु कुरु येन पूर्व जन्मो उपार्जित तानी चक्षु: प्रतिरोधक दुष्कृतानि तानि सर्वाणि निर्मूलय निर्मूलय ॐ नम शचक्षुषते जो दात्रे दिव्या भास्कराय   ॥ 

ॐ नमः करुणा कराया मृताय ॐ नमः श्री सूर्याय ॐ नमो भगवते सूर्य यक्षी तेजशे नमः ॐ खेचराय  मनः ओम महते नमः ॐ तपसे नमः रजसे असतोमाम सद्गमय तमसो माम ज्योति गमय मृत्यो मार्म मृतग मय उषो भगवन  सूचि रूप : हंसो भगवान सूचिर प्रतिरूप : यध्रुपा चाक्षुस्मति विद्या ब्राह्मणो नित्य मधीयते न तश्य श्रि रोगो भवति  न तश्य कुलेन्धो भवति   

अष्ठो ब्राह्ममणान ग्राह यित्वा  विद्या सिद्धि भवति ॐ विश्व रूपम घुणिते जात वेदसे हिर मणयम पुरुषं ज्योतिरूपम तम सहस्त्र रश्मिम शतधा वर्त्तमान: प्राण : प्रजा नामु दय सयेष: सूर्य: ॐ नमो भगवते आदित्याय अहो वाहिन्याय हो वाहिनी स्वाहा: ॥

Om Shree Ganeshaay Namah, Athatha Chakshushii Pathitha Siddham Chaksu Rog Haram, Vyrakhyayam , Yatha Chakshu Rogaha , Sarvato- Nashyanti Chakshu- Sho Dipti Bharvati Tashyaha Chakshushee Vidhyaya Aahi Budhanya Rishi Gayatri Chandha Shri Suryo Devta Chaksu Roga Nivrutaye Jape Viniyoga: ll

Astho Brahmanaan Graah- Yithvaa Vidhya Siddhim Bharvati Om Vishwa Roopam Gruhni-te Jaatah Vedse, Hiranya Marayam PurushamJyoti Roopam Tam Sahastra Rashmim Shatdha ,Vartamaan Pran Prajaa- Naamu-daya- Sshyesha Surya Om Namo Bhagvate Aadityaay Aaho-Vahinya-Ho- Vahini-Swaha: ll

Procedure to perform this Sadhana is :

1. Take a Plain white paper, write the Netroupanishada Sloka with Blue Ink Pen.
   
2. Make 8 Copies of this Sloka.
   
3. Now distribute it among 8 scholar brahmins.
   
4. After dispersing the hardcopies with 8 Scholars, this Mantra-sadhana gets completed and one can start reciting these slokas daily to get benefitted in eye ailments.
