Who is Vastu Purush?

Birth/Origin of Vastu Purusha – Once upon a time, when Lord Shankar killed Andhakasura, drops of sweat fell on earth from his forehead. A fierce creature formed from the sweat drops and started drinking the blood of others.

 Then when that creature could not get satisfaction in any way, he started doing intense austerities (Tapasya) on Lord Shankar. As a result, Mahadev appeared in front of that creature and gave him a boon.

Upon receiving a boon from Lord Shiva, the giant creature created the ruckus in all the three worlds due to which the Gods and Goddesses of the three worlds were disturbed. In the end, all the Gods threw him on the planet earth, fixing him on the abdominal area.

The Demi-Gods established this heavy creature, on earth hence the goddess started to dwell on it and due to being the abode of all the Gods and Goddesses, that creature is known by the name of Vastu. Vastu means – ‘to reside’.

 Some people also call it ‘Vastu Purusha.

Thus Vastu Purush is born. Scholars of ancient Vastu Shastra believe that Maharishi Atri Rishi Vashistha, Vishwakarma, Maya, Narada Muni, Agnijit, Lord Mahadev Shankar, King of Gods Indra, Brahma Ji, Kumar, Nandeshwar, Shaunak Rishi, Lord Vasudev, Shri Anirudh Ji, Demons Spiritual Guru- Sri Shukracharya Maharaj and the Guru of the Gods, Shri Vrihaspati Maharaj, are thus considered to be the original promoters and they are being considered as 18 great scholars of the great science of architecture known to us as “Vastu Shastra”.

 Whenever man builds his house through stone, mud, water etc. for his abode on earth, then the rules of Vastu shastra are applied inside that house.

The rules of Vastu Shastra also apply to a stone wall and apply to the window and door and also to the roof.

 According to Vastu Purusha Mandala, the rules of Vastu Shastra guide us to which room should be constructed in which direction and which space you should leave inside the house to clean the natural energy much more.

वास्तु पुरुष का प्रादुर्भाव Vastu Purush Ka Pradurbhav

भगवान शंकर ने जिस समय अंधकासुर का वध किया था, उस समय उनके ललाट से पृथ्वी पर पसीने की बूंदें गिरी थी । 

उन बूंदों से एक भयंकर आकृति युक्त प्राणी का निर्माण हुआ और उसी प्राणी ने पृथ्वी पर गिरने पर प्राणियों के  रक्त का पान करना शुरू कर दिया । 

फिर जब वह प्राणी किसी भी प्रकार से संतोष प्राप्त नहीं कर सका तब वह भगवान शंकर की घोर तपस्या करने लगा जिसके फलस्वरूप महादेव भगवान शंकर के सम्मुख प्रकट होकर वरदान मांगने का आग्रह किया । 

श्री महादेव ने कहा “तुम्हारी जो मनोकामना हो वह वह मुझ से मांग लो” । इसके उत्तर में विशालकाय पुरुष ने यही वर मांगा कि “मैं तीनों लोकों  को ग्रास करने में समर्थ होना चाहता हूं” ।

इस प्रकार भगवान शंकर से वरदान प्राप्त करने पर वह विशालकाय प्राणी-पुरुष तीनों लोकों में उत्पात मचाने लगा जिसके फलस्वरूप तीनों लोकों के देवी-देवता परेशान हो गए और अंत में सभी देवी-देवताओं ने उस भयानक प्राणी को अधोमुख करके पृथ्वी पर गिरा कर स्थापित / स्तंभित कर दिया । 

देवी-देवताओं  ने उस प्राणी ने जिस स्थान पर स्थापित किया, उस  स्थान पर देवी देवता उसी पर निवास करने लगे और सभी देवी-देवताओं के निवास-स्थान होने के कारण उस प्राणी को वह वास्तु नाम से जाना गया है । कुछ लोग इसे वास्तु पुरुष भी कहते हैं ।

वास्तुशास्त्र के नियम एक पत्थर की दीवार पर भी लागू होते हैं और खिड़की और दरवाजे पर और छत पर भी लागू होते हैं । वास्तु शास्त्र के नियम के अनुसार वास्तु पुरुष को संपूर्ण पृथ्वी पर उत्तरी पूर्वी और दक्षिण पूर्व में शेर और उल्टा लेटे हुए माना जाता है । 

वास्तु पुरुष मंडल के अनुसार वास्तु शास्त्र के नियमों में यह बताएं कि आपके घर में कौन सा कमरा निर्माण करना चाहिए और किस प्रकार से प्राकृतिक ऊर्जा को साफ़ करने के लिए घर के अंदर कौन से स्थान को छोड़ना चाहिए का निर्माण करना चाहिए ।
